Blue Self Storage and Pickfords partner to develop new UK sites
Blue Self Storage has entered into a strategic partnership with Pickfords to develop and operate additional self-storage sites across the UK.
The collaboration will begin with a new development in Aberdeen, Scotland, and is being positioned by both companies as the start of a longer-term partnership involving future projects.
Blue Self Storage, which owns and operates six container-storage facilities in the UK, will oversee the development and operation of the first site at Woodside Road in Aberdeen. The facility is owned by Pickfords, and the first phase will provide 26,900 sq ft of space.
Chris Bryan, chief executive of Blue Self Storage, said:
This partnership is a strong strategic fit. We’ve spent a number of years building a scalable operating platform and are increasingly focused on applying that expertise to third-party assets.
Pickfords is a highly respected brand with an ambitious growth strategy, and we are pleased to be supporting them as they expand their self-storage offering.
Martin Budd, brand director for Pickfords, said:
Self-storage is a key component of our long-term growth strategy. Blue Self Storage has demonstrated an excellent ability to develop and operate successful sites across the UK, and this partnership feels like a natural fit, allowing us to move our plans forward with confidence, speed and operational excellence.
Founded in 1988, Blue Self Storage has further sites under development in Gloucester and Rogerstone in South Wales, both of which are expected to open this summer.
Pickfords, founded in 1646, provides removals, self-storage and logistics services and currently operates 15 Pickfords Self Storage facilities across the UK.
