Bristol has been named the second-best city in the UK to launch a business in 2025, according to new research by Approved Business Finance.

The study assessed the UK’s 60 largest cities against a range of business factors, including commercial property costs, GDP, education levels and access to high-speed internet.

Bristol ranked highly thanks to its strong digital infrastructure, skilled workforce and established local economy.

According to the research, the average cost of commercial space in Bristol is £57 per sq ft, while 89.1% of businesses have access to high-speed internet connections. The city also recorded 47 business closures per 10,000 people.

Overall, Bristol achieved an index score of 65.63, placing it second in the UK for entrepreneurs looking to start a new venture.

The findings underline Bristol’s continued appeal as a location for start-ups and growing businesses, particularly at a time when rising property, supply chain and operating costs are putting pressure on companies across the UK.
