Bristol ergonomic seating manufacturer wins King’s Award for Enterprise

A Bristol-based manufacturer of ergonomic seating has been recognised with a King’s Award for Enterprise.

Ergochair, which designs and manufactures bespoke seating for workplace, home office and clinical environments, has received the award in the Innovation category.

The company is one of 185 organisations across the UK to be recognised in the 2026 King’s Awards for Enterprise, which were announced today, Wednesday 6 May.

Founded in 2002, Ergochair employs 27 people and has built its business around ergonomic seating designed to improve comfort, well-being, and productivity at work.

The company originally focussed on chairs for people with complex clinical needs, with each product tailored to the individual. Over the past two decades, it has expanded into wider workplace seating, bringing the same focus on adaptability and personalisation into office and home working environments.

Its products are used by organisations across the UK and are also exported internationally.

We will continue to drive innovation in truly UK-based manufacturing and export across the globe.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise are regarded as one of the UK’s highest business honours. Previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, they were renamed in 2023 following the accession of King Charles III.

Now in their 60th year, the awards recognise outstanding UK businesses across categories including innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity.

Winning organisations are able to use the King’s Awards Emblem for five years.
